Remit are amongst the first training providers to launch the brand-new Specialist Tyre Operative apprenticeship standard. This apprenticeship programme was developed in conjunction with leading employers and the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) with the aim of filling a significant training gap and improving safety standards for mobile tyre technicians.

Remit Group is one of the UK’s leading training providers, specialising in automotive apprenticeships. Part owned by the RMI, Remit has more than 100 years of experience and reputation for delivering excellence in the automotive sector.

This apprenticeship will ensure that your
Specialist Tyre Operatives will be able to carry
out both scheduled tyre maintenance and
emergency response work in a wide variety
of locations ranging from public highways,
motorways and construction sites to docks,
military facilities and airports. This programme
has a high focus on safety and will teach
technicians to ensure the safety of themselves
and others in the vicinity, by making detailed
risk assessments as each vehicle and location
are unique in nature.

18 months

Individual employers will set their own selection
criteria for applicants. However, it is usually
expected that apprentices will have or be
working towards a full category B driver’s
licence due to the mobile nature of the role.
Apprentices without level 2 English and maths
will need to achieve this prior to completing their
apprenticeship. Remit’s dedicated functional
skills team will work with the apprentice to
ensure they reach the required level.

Six weeks will be spent at the Remit Automotive
Training Academy. These weeks will be split
into six separate 5-day blocks.
