Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship (Barista Specialism)

The Starbucks Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship is designed to build your expertise
and skills to help make you a truly world class Barista. Delivered in partnership with Remit Training,
the programme provides a flavour of core hospitality, customer service and barista skills.
As added value, and like all our other apprenticeships, you will receive a full subject specialism
qualification, as well as support, training and guidance to achieve English and Maths qualifications,
should you need to.

You will be fully supported by your line manager and your Remit personal Development Coach
during your time on the programme.

Some of the aspects which you’ll learn at a glance will include:
• Principles of and world class customer service
• Building customer relationships
• Resolving customer service problems
• How to delight and ‘wow’ customers in line with the business and brand standards
• Keeping up with industry trends and change
• Service standards for beverages
• The current legislation regarding weights and measures, trades description and sale of goods
• Prepare service areas, equipment and stock for service
• The different specialist coffee beverages available, their ingredients and characteristics
• Why it is important to give customers accurate information about special offers, promotions, the
ingredients, basic characteristics and strength of their drink

How will I be assessed?2019-10-25T12:12:34+00:00

At the end of the apprenticeship you will undertake an end-point assessment in which you will be
assessed with a view to signing-off and successfully completing your Apprenticeship. There will be
an opportunity for you to pass or pass with distinction through the following assessment methods:

• Work based project – 800-1200 word project report focusing on a business improvement idea
• A multiple choice assessment test
• A work based observation
• A professional discussion
You will meet monthly with your Remit Development Coach who will help you compile your portfolio
to build and achieve your qualification, as well as helping prepare you for your
end-point assessment.

This is a 12 month programme in which you will complete on and off-the-job training in order to
help you complete your apprenticeship. The off-the-job training will include all the regular off-the
job aspects of being a Barista, for example undertaking the Barista Basics learning programme,
attending team meetings and implementing campaigns, alongside there will also be four hours
per month structured learning away from the job, this structured learning will be made up from:
• One to one Development Coach Visits
• On-Line classroom teaching and webinars
• On-line learning and online forums (FUSE platform)
• Self-study
