The IMI Emission Control Technician programme is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of advanced vehicle diagnostics and emission control systems. It equips technicians with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to diagnose, maintain, and repair modern commercial vehicle technologies.
Learners will gain an understanding of diagnostic testing and emissions management, including SCR, DPF and AdBlue systems, alongside automotive electrical systems, ECU functionality and advanced fault-finding techniques.
Through a combination of classroom-based learning and practical workshop activities, delegates will develop confidence in live diagnostics, electrical testing, oscilloscope use and troubleshooting real-time faults. The programme also covers emissions legislation, safe working practices and industry-standard diagnostic methods to support progression within the automotive sector.
