The Level 3 Vehicle Damage Panel Technician apprenticeship develops skilled, capable technicians with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to repair and replace damaged vehicle body panels to manufacturer and industry standards. Apprentices build practical expertise in collision damage assessment, vehicle measurement and alignment, panel repair and replacement, structural panel replacement, welding and joining technologies and safe working practices.
Build understanding of workshop processes, hazards, risks and fire safety, supporting safe working practices throughout vehicle body repair.
Develop knowledge of specialist body repair equipment, vehicle measuring systems and electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools used throughout panel repair, alignment and replacement activities.
With a strong focus on tool safety, materials handling and workshop procedures, apprentices contribute to a safer, more compliant working environment.
Develop practical skills in identifying collision damage, carrying out panel repairs, replacing bolted panels and preparing surfaces using fillers, abrasives and approved repair materials.
Build understanding of vehicle body construction, chassis structures, modern vehicle materials and safety systems to support accurate repair method selection and maintain vehicle integrity.
Develop practical skills across MAG, TIG, resistance spot and MIG welding, including welding techniques, defect identification, weld inspection and quality standards.
Build skills in adhesive bonding, panel preparation and quality checks, alongside permanent panel removal and replacement, cut lines, joining techniques and vehicle systems protection.
Develop knowledge of structural repair methods, major repair pulling equipment, metals and alloys, hot and cold shrinking techniques and vehicle body repair principles.
Strengthen damage assessment skills through the use of vehicle measuring systems, body alignment equipment and rectification techniques used to restore vehicle geometry and structural accuracy.
Develop practical vehicle body repair capability in-house, equipping employees or new apprentices with the skills to repair and replace collision-damaged vehicle panels.
Build expertise in collision damage assessment, vehicle measurement and alignment, panel replacement and structural repair methods, strengthening accident repair capability across your operation.
