The Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician apprenticeship develops skilled, capable technicians with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to prepare, refinish and restore vehicle bodywork to manufacturer and industry standards. Apprentices build practical expertise in substrate preparation, paint application, colour matching, blending, paint defect rectification and refinishing techniques, while using specialist spray equipment and paint systems safely within a vehicle repair environment.
Build understanding of workshop processes, hazards, risks and fire safety, supporting safe working practices throughout vehicle paint repair and refinishing.
Develop knowledge of specialist paint tools and equipment, including compressors, regulators, spray booth controls, spray guns and cleaning equipment.
Develop skills in substrate identification, paint system selection, surface preparation, degreasing and cleaning processes, alongside protective coatings, waste management and colour systems.
