The food and drink industry is one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic sectors. This Level 2 apprenticeship equips your technical operators with the core knowledge, practical skills, and behaviours needed to support consistent, high-quality production in a regulated, fast-paced environment.
Working with your production systems, equipment, and SOPs, learners develop critical skills in food safety, hygiene, fault-finding, line operations and regulatory compliance. They’ll also be trained in interpreting performance data and identifying opportunities for improvement, making them valuable contributors to team output and product quality.
Delivered with flexibility to fit around shifts and operational demands, this programme supports your team with minimal disruption. It also provides the foundations for internal career progression – and a clear return on investment.
Developing knowledge and practical skills across operations, compliance and safety
Shape confident, compliant operators through structured hands-on learning.
Training is delivered flexibly, often on-site or through a blend of in-work and remote support.
Typically 18–24 months, including the 3-month end-point assessment phase.
Minimum 6 hours per week, with content structured to minimise operational disruption.

This Level 2 programme helps you learn how to work safely, follow processes, solve problems and work as part of a production team. You’ll get trained by people who’ve worked in the industry, and you’ll build confidence while learning on the job – not stuck in a classroom every day. You’ll even work towards your English and maths if you haven’t already got them.
And once you’ve finished, there are loads of ways to move up – with more training, better jobs and a proper career ahead of you.
