The Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship develops skilled, capable technicians with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to inspect, service, maintain and repair vehicles across a range of common vehicle systems. Apprentices build practical expertise in vehicle health checks, routine servicing, brakes, steering and suspension, wheels and tyres, engines, electrical systems and workshop diagnostics, while developing skills in hybrid and electric vehicle technology, high-voltage safety and safe workshop practice.
Build knowledge of health and safety, workshop tools, vehicle technology and manufacturer procedures while developing skills in vehicle inspections, health checks, diagnostic equipment and measurement techniques.
Develop practical skills across braking systems, wheels and tyres, steering and suspension systems, wheel alignment, tyre inspection, tyre replacement and routine maintenance activities.
Build knowledge of engine operation, cooling and lubrication systems while developing skills in engine inspection, testing, maintenance procedures and fault identification.
Develop skills across air intake and exhaust systems, component servicing, air and fuel fault diagnosis, emissions control and sensor diagnostics.
Strengthen understanding of vehicle electrical systems, batteries, relays, starting and charging systems while developing confidence in electrical testing, component replacement and basic fault diagnosis.
Develop knowledge of petrol and diesel fuel systems, ignition systems, alternative fuel technologies and hybrid vehicle fundamentals.
Build skills across manual and automatic transmissions, clutch servicing and replacement, differentials, powertrain layouts, four-wheel drive systems and gear ratios.
Develop skills across electric and hybrid vehicle fundamentals, high-voltage safety, EV maintenance and servicing, air conditioning and refrigerant handling, alongside airbags, restraint systems and SRS diagnostics.
Develop technicians with practical servicing, maintenance and repair skills across common vehicle systems, using industry-standard tools, equipment and workshop procedures to support day-to-day workshop operations.
Develop employees who can carry out vehicle health checks, inspect key systems, identify wear and faults and use diagnostic and measurement techniques to support effective servicing and maintenance.
Your apprentice will develop knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicle technology, high-voltage safety, maintenance and servicing, supporting skills across modern vehicle technologies.
