Barbara Davies from Remit initially contacted my company in January 2019 asking if we would be interested in taking on an apprentice.

I explained to Barbara that over the previous few years we had taken on several apprentices through various other training companies and found the experience was very negative.

With poor timekeeping and absence unfortunately seeming to be the order of the day, even though the young people we offered the opportunity to knew there would be a full time position if they made a positive impact on our business, this did not motivate them one iota.

So apart from the few thousand pounds we lost in training fees and residential courses, our faith in the apprentice scheme was somewhat tainted.

Over the course of a few months, Barbara kept in contact with me, letting me know not only about the support that Remit give to their apprentices but also the vigorous interviews the applicants go through.

Barbara also sent through some CVs of applicants that fitted our needs, they looked impressive, so we decided to dip our toe in the water again and invite a few in for interviews.

Our first impression of the candidates we met were that they were a class above the applicants we had seen with previous training providers, so we decided to offer one young gentleman, Sam, the opportunity to join Dynamic on the Digital Marketing Apprentice.

Sam joined Dynamic in July 2019 and very quickly it became clear he had a “can do” attitude, equally impressive was the fact Sam has a 60-mile round journey every day to get to our offices, and yet he is always on time.

In fact, he made such an impression that we went back to Barbara and said if Remit could find us another person the calibre of Sam, we would be happy to take on another apprentice.

So, in October 2019 we took on a young lady, Stephanie, who again has made a great start to her career with Dynamic, she too has a fantastic “can do” attitude and like Sam is great when liaising with our clients.

The ongoing support that both Sam and Steph have received from Barbara and the team at Remit has been first class, with regular site visits to make sure everything is on track.
