National Apprenticeship Week 2026
Build future-ready teams with funded apprenticeships and expert training support
Through our collaboration with Remit Training, we’ve developed a market-leading, apprenticeship programme that enables Partners to learn whilst ‘on-the-job’ across the Partnership. On completion of our programme, you’ll achieve a nationally recognised, apprenticeship qualification.
Helping you lay the foundations to a successful career.
Butchery is a highly skilled profession steeped in tradition and Apprentice Partners will gain an understanding about a range of meat species and the various techniques needed to process and/or produce products. In addition, Partners will learn to cut, prepare, package and present meat products to the standards required of the Partnership and the specialist needs of our customers.
At the end of the programme, you’ll undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA) to test your understanding of the new knowledge and application of new skills. On completion of the apprenticeship, butchers will have gained a range of skills, knowledge and behaviours, essential to being successful in this career as well as achieving a recognised qualification.
Partners will also gain...
Industry recognised certification in Food Safety, Health & Safety in the Food Supply Chain, Knife Skills, and where relevant English and maths.
You must be aged 16 or over.
You must be in a relevant job role and department within the Partnership, require substantial new knowledge and skills in this field and must not have a qualification in a comparable field at the same level or higher.
You must be a UK/EEA resident and have lived in the UK/EEA for at least 3 years.
Do you have Additional Learning Needs (ALN)? Around 20% of the apprentices Remit work with do too and their results show similar success rates as those apprentices who don’t. Whether it’s dyslexia, dyspraxia, neurodiversity, a difficulty or a disability, Remit can work with you to identify the right support and adaptations. We believe every apprentice has the potential and we’ve got a range of resources, specialists, and technology ready to get you there.
Register Your Interest by completing some basic information about yourself. Remit Training and your line manager will be in touch to discuss your application further and answer any questions you may have
You’ll progress through your apprenticeship gaining new skills, knowledge and behaviours in both a workshop and shop floor environment. You’ll be trained in every aspect of the programme by an expert trainer in Butchery who will coach and support you through each learning aim.

In addition to technical skills, you’ll also cover English and maths Functional Skills, or as we like to call them Skills for Life. These are an essential criterion for achieving the overall apprenticeship standard, so you will either need to have achieved and be able to evidence the required level or be willing to work towards achieving Functional Skills as part of your apprenticeship.
If you already have the qualifications in this area, you’ll need to stretch and challenge your current knowledge base and we’ve got the latest in eLearning resources to guide you.
No qualifications? No problem. You will need to gain the necessary certifications in both subjects whilst on programme. Your Development Coach will support you, multi-media-based eLearning will be available to you 24/7 and we’ve got expert maths and English specialists on hand for those that need some extra support.
Your Partner programme is a 12-month, blended delivery apprenticeship plus end point assessment. This means that you’ll enjoy a variety of learning and training styles to give you a varied and exciting experience. These include virtual and in-store delivery, group and individual learning opportunities, as well as practical and theory-based sessions.
We use a blend of leading eLearning technologies and resources as well as expert mentoring and guidance from Remit Development Coaches. There will be some travel involved for the practical sessions as Partners will come together in stores for the training.
The EPA is a culmination of the learning and development journey resulting in external confirmation of an apprentice meeting the industry defined standard. The EPA is conducted by an Independent End Point Assessor approved and appointed by an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), which is quality assured to ensure consistent, reliable and valid judgements. Before starting EPA, an apprentice must meet the gateway requirements.
For this apprenticeship there are three assessment methods:
