This apprenticeship will help your apprentice technicians to learn the fundamentals of heavy vehicle technologies, including, how to service, inspect and maintain vehicles to the expected standards. They will also understand the importance of safety inspection and maintenance schedules to meet Operator’s (O) licence and legal obligations. Apprentices will gain an understanding of diagnosing principles and logical problem-solving techniques related to heavy vehicle. They will develop effective oral and written communication skills both internally with colleagues and with customers on a range of topics that will support heavy vehicle inspection and diagnostic techniques.
Individual employers will set their own selection criteria for applicants. Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this prior to completing their apprenticeship. Remit’s dedicated functional skills team will work with the apprentice to ensure they reach the required level.
Number of Training Blocks
15 weeks will be spent at the Remit Automotive Training Academy. There will be 5 block weeks each year spread across the 12 months.
On completion and achievement of the standard, candidates will have the opportunity to progress to Master Technician, management or to develop in their current role.
At the end of each year the apprentice will have to undertake a gateway assessment. These assessments are based around the work they have studied throughout the year and are in place to ensure the learner is competent at the correct level for their program.
There are three independent end assessment activities, each with several component parts. To achieve the apprenticeship all assessment activities must be completed to at least pass.
